Chelidonine Introduction

Chelidonine is an abstract of Papaveraceae with acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase inhibitory activity.

Chelidonine is the above alkaloid basic of Chelidonium majus. Chelidonium majus L. is the alone breed of the association Chelidonieae of the Papaveraceae family. The Papaveraceae ancestors is affluent in specific alkaloids. C. majus contains assorted isoquinoline alkaloids with protopine, protoberberine and benzophenanthridine structures. This benzophenanthridine alkaloid can abet apoptosis in some adapted or cancerous corpuscle lines.

D-Chelidonine, the capital alkaloid of Chelidonium majus, was ancient abandoned in 1839.
